‘Carrie’ TV series: Everything to know about Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation

The Prime Video series stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White who faces the pressures of teenage life in an online era

Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Carrie TV series for Prime Video will bring Stephen King’s influential story about bullying, adolescence and telekinetic power to a new generation.

King’s 1974 novel has already inspired several screen adaptations, most notably Brian De Palma’s 1976 film starring Sissy Spacek.

The story was also revisited in The Rage: Carrie 2 in 1999, an NBC television adaptation in 2002 and a 2013 feature film directed by Kimberly Peirce and starring Chloé Grace Moretz.

The 2026 Prime Video series stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White, who faces the pressures of teenage life in an era shaped by social media.

The series will explore contemporary aspects of bullying while giving Flanagan room to expand on the original story.

Flanagan has previously adapted several works by King, and the author has expressed his approval of the upcoming series.

The episodic format could allow the production to explore elements of the 1974 novel in greater detail while adapting its themes for modern audiences.

The story follows Carrie, a socially isolated teenager whose telekinetic abilities become increasingly significant as she endures bullying and difficult experiences at home and school.

With its established source material and Flanagan’s experience adapting King’s work, Carrie offers a new interpretation of a story that has remained part of popular culture for decades.

The 8-episode miniseries adaptation of Carrie is now streaming on Prime Video.
