BC Ferries sailings held at dock due to police incident at Horseshoe Bay terminal

BC Ferries services at Horseshoe Bay in the Canadian city of Vancouver, have been suspended due to a police incident on board one of its vessels, causing widespread delays for passengers.

According to CTV, the disruption began earlier on April 19, when the Queen of Surrey was held at dock.

BC Ferries confirmed that no loading or unloading was taking place “for the safety of passengers” and said there was no clear timeline for when service would resume due to a “critical incident.”

The 11:55 AM sailing to Snug Cove and the 12:10 PM sailing to Langdale were both held at dock, while a ferry travelling from Nanaimo was delayed offshore, unable to berth and unload.

By 4:00 PM bystanders reported that no vessels had arrived or departed from Horseshoe Bay.

West Vancouver Police said officers are at the terminal to assist “a member of the public” and have asked people to avoid the area and follow police instructions.

Travellers have been advised to consider alternate routes, including the Duke Point to Tsawwassen service, and to check for updates through official channels.
