Internet users in Pakistan may experience slower connectivity in the coming days, particularly those relying on services from Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited.
According to an official notice issued by PTCL, internet speeds across the country could be affected from May 11 to May 18 due to technical repair work on a submarine cable. During this period, users may encounter slow browsing speeds and intermittent connectivity issues.
The company stated that the impact is expected to be more noticeable during evening hours, when internet usage typically peaks. The maintenance work is being carried out by an international cable consortium responsible for managing undersea internet infrastructure.
PTCL emphasized that the repair and upgrade process is essential to improve long-term service quality and ensure a more stable and reliable internet experience for users in the future.
Experts note that submarine cables handle a significant portion of global internet traffic, and even minor technical faults can disrupt connectivity across multiple countries.
