Ariel Winter finally broke the silence on her shocking split from Luke Benward.

“He’s still one of my best friends, a great human being and a great pup coparent,” the 28-year-old actress penned in response to People’s Instagram post.

“Just because sometimes people aren’t meant to be doesn’t mean you don’t still appreciate the time spent and retain the friendship you shared still a big luke fan over here!!!” she added.

Earlier on Thursday, the publication reported that Ariel and Luke were no longer together. As per the outlet, the longtime couple split in August 2025 after 6 years of dating.

“They just realized after almost six years that they were better as friends,” an insider said. “They are still best friends and share the pups, so everything is really good.”

“There is tons of love still between them,” shared the source, adding that Ariel still thinks Luke is “the best.”

For those unversed, the ‘Modern Family’ actress and the ‘Life of the Party’ actor were friends before their relationship turned romantic in 2019.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2021, Ariel said the pivot was a surprise.

“Honestly, it’s been the best thing ever now, but it was pretty bizarre at first because that was never something that I expected at all,” she explained.

“It’s been the biggest blessing for me. He is amazing. He is definitely my safe space,” added Ariel.
