Jamie Bell opened up about his bond with Andrew Garfield.
The newly released action-war film, The uprising starred Andrew as a ploughman and Jamie portrays the character of a rebellious priest.
In a recent interview with People Magazine, Jamie revealed that despite the challenging nature of the historical drama he and his co-star Andrew shared some fun moments, stating, “We’re just in the dirt and the s—, and just lots of fun chats, just when we’re not being revolutionaries.”
He went on to explain, “We’ve also been into doing it forever between the two of us, so many decades of this business and still a lust for it, still enjoying being in the s—, and still loving being in the grime and the dirt and working with directors that you love and so passionate about that.”
As the shoot includes battle fields, long marches and muddy conditions, Jamie said, “There’s a lot of marching in this movie, marching from here to there, they march from this f—ing field to that field.”
“And at the end of the day, we’re like, ‘Oh, the back is a bit [grunts in pain].’ So it was a lot of talk about that. Need better shoes. 14th-century shoes, not the best for the back and stuff,” Jamie added.
When the actor was questioned about his experience of working with the Spider-Man star, “He’s doing great work and you’re like, ‘Yeah, I guess it makes sense. He’s Andrew Garfield,” the British actor humorously added.
Jamie also reflected on Andrew’s acting style and performance by praising him. “With actors of his stature, it’s always amazing how when you see them perform, just how dialed down they are, how subtle they are in certain things and certain choices that they make.”
Adding, “Because you think of them as this very, I don’t know, prestigious actor. And yet when you are opposite them, their performance is so small, and you realize that that’s the trick, that’s the real skill, is honing into and distilling down to the most honest, the most truthful.”
“Seeing that and being reminded of it, it just validates him,” the actor, 40 added, “And I was always a big fan of his before, bigger fan now. He’s also just a lovely human being.”
It is pertinent to mention here that The Uprising has already hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
