In the wake of the Lindsay Clancy trial dominating the airwaves, scores of related cases involving women allegedly killing their children crept up.
For example, Shatayvia Calderon, a woman from Indiana, was accused of killing her nine-week-old son, Julian.
Immediately after allegedly murdering her child, she committed suicide on October 19, 2026.
Interestingly, according to CT Insider, a Facebook account that appeared to be linked to Calderon shared a fundraising post for Patrick Clancy, Lindsay’s ex-husband.
Then, there is Corrie Walsh. An Illinois woman, she was on trial for allegedly killing her two-year-old son, Barrett.
The stunning incident took place on Sept. 1, and reports at the time stated that Walsh was discussing the trial of Lindsay with her friends just hours before the death of her son.
In both cases, however, it has not been established that publicity around Lindsay’s case influenced either woman’s actions.
However, some quarters raised suspicions of copycat attacks.
Ken Grey, a professor of practice within the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of New Haven, weighed in on the matter.
“You need to know how many of these cases occur regularly in order to know if the cases after the trial started were caused by the Clancy case,” he told CT Insider.
Data from Lives Cut Short, cited by Grey, stated that 2,282 fatalities resulted in the US from 2022 to 2026 from maternal child maltreatment, and on average 450 children died per year.
The data, as it appeared, seemed to highlight that maternal child killing existed before Lindsay’s trial became viral.
