Tana Mongeau recreates Erika Kirk’s signature look for Halloween, prompting mixed reactions online
The internet personality shared a video of her dressing up as the wife of late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk
Podcaster Tana Mongeau has sparked mixed reactions after dressing as Erika Kirk, the wife of late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, for Halloween.
The 28-year-old internet personality shared a video of her costume on Instagram on Saturday, October 24.
She recreated Erika’s appearance from her April YouTube video, A Message From Erika Kirk, wearing an all-black outfit featuring a silk button-up shirt and a black baseball cap bearing the word “Freedom”. She completed the look with blonde hair tied back in a ponytail.
In the original video, Erika addressed speculation surrounding her husband’s death, criticism of her public grieving and the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting. She also spoke about the assassination attempt.
Mongeau mimicked Erika’s intense stare, looking directly into the camera while making heavy breathing sounds. Alongside the video, she wrote: “I feel like I should immediately apologize for this but I’m not sure if I’m sorry so,”
The costume attracted attention online, although some viewers questioned whether Mongeau had captured Erika’s distinctive expression. One user on the FauxMoi subreddit commented: “It’s not really giving Erika Kirk, the eyes aren’t scaring me.”
Another wrote: “She’s not staring into my soul hard enough.” A further commenter suggested: “She should of put in blue contacts.”
Several users also compared the costume unfavourably with comedian Druski’s parody of conservative American women, which featured a blonde character wearing striking blue contact lenses.
Reactions to Mongeau’s Halloween video were divided, with some viewers amused by the imitation and others arguing that the facial expression was central to the look.
Erika Kirk has since taken over as CEO of Turning Point USA following her husband’s death.
