Bill Murray says being asked for selfies all the time can be “hard.”

The Ghostbusters star, 76, recently spoke about being a Hollywood favorite and often getting asked for photos when he is out in public.

When asked in a new interview if he sees the attention as a “burden,” Murray said it is not a burden “if you’re living correctly,” per The Hollywood Reporter. But if you are stuck in something else, he said, “yeah, it’s hard.”

He compared it to becoming attached to something, or having something attach to you. He said that can leave you not free to live the way you wish.

Murray said he does not mind the attention every time. Sometimes he is in the mood for it, such as when he flies commercial. He said he has had a lot of energy on those trips and has had “fun” encounters with people in airports.

He said it is not always difficult. The difference, he said, is that it happens far more often than in ordinary life. “The percentages are the same,” he said. “It’s just that the numbers are different.”

Murray will next appear in the Amazon series A Course Called Ireland. The show was meant to retrace a trip along the Irish coast taken by golf writer Tom Coyne in his bestselling book. Murray is also an executive producer.
