Actress Bunny Levine, known for her roles in Law & Order, La La Land and Gilmore Girls, has died at age 97.
Her representatives told NBC Los Angeles and The Hollywood Reporter that Levine died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Tarzana, California, on Thursday, August 20.
According to NBC Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police Department said her death appeared to be due to natural causes.
Born Bernice Levine in Orange, New Jersey, she earned master’s degrees from Columbia University and New York University before beginning her acting career. She initially worked as a teacher and school librarian before leaving education to focus on acting.
One of Levine’s earliest film roles was in the 1990 movie Cadillac Man, starring Tim Robbins and Robin Williams.
Her television credits included You Wrote It, You Watch It and Law & Order.
In 1991, Levine and her husband, Bernard S. Levine, co-founded Actors Connection in New York City to help performers advance their careers.
Following her death, the organization paid tribute to her in a statement, saying, “Actors Connection honors the life and contributions of Bunny Levine … Her passion for helping actors has launched countless careers.”
After her husband died in 2003, Levine moved to Los Angeles, where she continued her acting career.
