Tom Holland has confirmed that Marvel and Sony have been developing a long-term succession plan for Spider-Man, revealing that discussions about eventually passing the role to another actor began shortly after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Holland shared the update during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, explaining that there is already a clear vision for how the transition will eventually take place, even though those plans may evolve over time.
“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting,” Holland said.
While Holland confirmed that a roadmap exists, he did not reveal who could eventually succeed him as Spider-Man or when that transition might happen.

Speaking to GQ last month, he said, “I would love to pass the baton on, but I haven’t achieved that yet … I think the truth is that playing Spider-Man has been the joy of my life. I now kind of stand on the plinth of like, I’ll do it for as long as they’ll have me.”
Holland returns as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando as Scorpion, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.
