Mustafa Kamal raises concerns over MQM’s leadership

Federal Minister for Health and senior MQM-P leader Mustafa Kamal strongly criticized his party’s leadership, including Farooq Sattar, during a speech at MQM-P’s Bahadurabad headquarters in Karachi.

Mustafa Kamal said that Farooq Sattar repeatedly states in interviews that Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori is the party’s “red line,” adding that the situation has become a “joke.” He revealed that he had called Anis Qaimkhani and asked him to seek clarification from MQM-P Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui regarding whether this was officially the party’s policy.

He said that if the chairman’s policy is indeed that Kamran Tessori is the party’s red line, then he would be the first person to endorse that position. However, if no such policy exists, party leaders should refrain from making such statements. “This is not how a political party functions. It has become a joke,” he remarked.

Mustafa Kamal said MQM members had invested their blood and sweat in the party and were trying to pull the community out of difficult circumstances. He urged leaders not to hold the community hostage for personal interests and warned against sacrificing collective goals for individual gains.

The federal minister also claimed that major decisions were expected to be made in the country’s political landscape and questioned where MQM stood amid these developments. He further stated that a leader who fears losing his own election cannot effectively fight for the rights of the people. Criticizing the party’s internal affairs, he said no political party in Pakistan’s history had postponed its internal elections four times, questioning how such leadership could seriously demand rights from others.
