YouTuber Coffeezilla’s investigation challenges key claims in Bricks & Minifigs Lego dispute

Investigative YouTuber Coffeezilla has released a detailed examination of the ongoing Bricks & Minifigs (BAM) controversy, concluding that the dispute surrounding a missing Lego Star Wars collection appears to be driven more by record-keeping failures, compensation disagreements and legal conflict than the disappearance of a $200,000 collection.

Coffeezilla, whose reporting has previously focused on financial scandals, cryptocurrency collapses and online fraud investigations, spent months reviewing photographs, inventory spreadsheets, sales records and interviews involving former franchise owners Chrystal and Ben Gorman, BAM executives, and current operators linked to the Oregon store at the centre of the dispute.

The case began after collector Bryan Mansell placed a large Lego Star Wars collection on consignment at a Bricks & Minifigs store in Salem, Oregon. Following a corporate takeover of the location in November 2024, questions emerged about the whereabouts and value of the collection.

According to Coffeezilla’s findings, the collection was likely worth approximately $107,000 rather than the widely reported $200,000.

His investigation identified roughly $21,000 worth of inventory that could be directly verified as being present in the store on the night of the takeover, significantly higher than earlier corporate estimates of $2,000 to $5,000.

The review also uncovered evidence of off-site storage, disputed inventory records, unusual layaway arrangements and sales that may not have been properly documented.

Coffeezilla estimated that only $10,000 to $20,000 worth of Lego remains unexplained, although he believes Mansell could still be owed between $50,000 and $83,000.

The investigation comes amid wider controversy involving YouTuber Reckless Ben, who claims legal action has prevented him from continuing public discussion of the BAM dispute.

Meanwhile, former BAM operators Joshua Johnson and Brandon Best have reportedly parted ways with the company following public scrutiny of the case.

Coffeezilla ultimately concluded that responsibility for resolving the matter now rests on accurately reconciling records, compensating affected parties and bringing an end to a dispute that has evolved far beyond a missing Lego collection.
