Nancy Guthrie kidnapping: JonBenet Ramsey’s father warns Savannah family about police

Nancy Guthrie’s, the 84-year-old mom of US Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, kidnapping case is turning into an enigmatic one with no major breakthrough in sight.

In the midst of shockingly evolving new theories regarding DNA evidence collected from the crime scene, JonBenet Ramsey’s father has shared powerful yet blunt advice to Savannah family related to the police working on the case.

John Bennett Ramsey is the father of murdered 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey whose homicide case still remains unresolved.

In a conversation with Brian Entin Investigates on May 20, 2026, John Ramsey shared his perspective on the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

Drawing on his own experience with the unsolved murder of his daughter, Ramsay warned, “Don’t assume the police are doing everything they can do. They may be, but don’t assume that. Really scrutinize what they’re doing, ask questions.”

He also urged the family to specifically inquire about the status of DNA evidence, noting that traditional methods like CODIS may be obsolete compared to modern investigative genetic genealogy (IGG), which can create family trees to identify suspects.

Ramsay continued, “DNA—what’s the status of the DNA? Do you have DNA that doesn’t match anybody in the family? What are you doing with it? Just putting in CODIS—that’s obsolete. That’s not going to result.”

“That worked for 30 years ago, that’s all we had. But now you can employ IGG [investigative genetic genealogy], and create a family tree, and with pretty good probability, get a name on the killer.”

Savannah’s mother Nancy has been missing from her Arizona home since February 1, 2026. Despite authorities believing she was abducted based on all collected evidence, no suspect has been named after 100 days of her missing.
