Brendan Gleeson asks next Mad-Eye Moody to do THIS in ‘Harry Potter’ franchise

Brendan Gleeson does not have any specific advice to share for the next person who lands the role of Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody in the Harry Potter franchise.
From 2005 to 2010, Gleeson portrayed Mad-Eye in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
The 71-year-old Irish actor chatted with PEOPLE magazine at the New York premiere of Spider-Noir on May 13 to promote his role as Silverman, which will be out on MGM+’s linear channel on May 25, 2025.
While talking about his new character, he reminisced about playing the Auror in three of the beloved Harry Potter films and when he was asked what he would tell the next person who gets the opportunity to play that role.
After listening to the question, Gleeson’s answer was just “absolutely now.”
“Enjoy yourself, do your own thing,” The Banshees of Inisherin star added.
In his previous interview with The Guardian, Gleeson stated that many people do not recognize him without his detachable eye and that is why he does not see any drastic impact of his work in the entertainment world on his personal life.
He said at that time, “As unconventional as my looks are, they’re not quite as unconventional as Mad-Eye Moody’s, so I’ve kind of gotten away with murder.”
“Robbie Coltrane told me I should forget about walking through airports again, but to be honest, it’s a bad idea to tell your 10-year-old to talk to me, because the poor child makes no connection with Mad-Eye Moody and he’s looking at me saying: ‘Why am I being asked to talk to a stranger?’” Gleeson explained.
