Lakki Marwat blast leaves seven dead, more than 18 wounded

PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of seven people.

LAKKI MARWAT: At least seven people were killed and more than 18 others were injured in a powerful explosion near a police station in the Sarai Naurang market area of Lakki Marwat on Tuesday.

According to police, the blast occurred in a rickshaw parked near the Naurang Police Station. The bodies of the seven victims were shifted to Naurang Hospital.

Hospital authorities said two traffic police personnel were among those martyred in the explosion.

Several women and children were also among the injured brought to the hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, an emergency was declared at Sarai Naurang Hospital to handle the casualties.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of seven people, including two traffic police officers, in the explosion in the Sarai Naurang market area of Lakki Marwat.

The prime minister said that all relevant institutions and the government are working with unwavering determination to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

“Terrorists will not be allowed to obstruct Pakistan’s path to peace and development,” he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that law enforcement agencies and the public have made invaluable sacrifices in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

He directed authorities to complete a swift investigation into the incident, identify those responsible, and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The prime minister also offered prayers for the forgiveness of those martyred in the blast and for the speedy recovery of the injured.
