
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with President Asif Ali Zardari at the President House on Tuesday and briefed him on various aspects of the ongoing US-Iran negotiations.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister provided a detailed update on different phases of the talks and took the President into confidence regarding Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides. He also shared progress achieved through Pakistan’s mediation efforts.
The Prime Minister further informed the President about his upcoming visits to Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
President Zardari, while commenting on the regional situation, noted that the impact of conflicts is being felt on regional stability as well as global security, economy, and politics.
He appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in hosting and facilitating the US-Iran dialogue, as well as the contributions of the Prime Minister, the Field Marshal, and other state institutions.
He said that Pakistan has strengthened its position as a responsible and key regional state, while also reinforcing its image as a peace-seeking nation on the global stage.
The President emphasized that the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, and other officials should remain in close contact with the United States, Iran, and other regional and global powers to ensure continuity of the peace process and promote regional harmony.
