50 Cent taps ‘Yellowstone’ as selling point for his Starz crime show
Yellowstone was a stunning hit, so for the neo-Western drama fans, 50 Cent says his new series, Fightland, could be the next must-watch.
In an interview with People, the musician-creator pitched his show on par with Taylor Sheridan’s critically hit drama, stating, “You like Yellowstone? Someone dies in every episode.”
“That’s what I’d say to you right away ‘cause [Yellowstone creator] Taylor Sheridan’s viewership is very hot,” the Candy Shop rapper states, referring to the creator’s viral high-stakes storytelling.
The rap star, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, also adds that the “intensity of the material elevates the show above a standard action film or crime drama.”
Charles Babalola, who has been cast in Fightland, sung praise of 50 Cent, comparing him to sporting greats such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It’s exciting. Look, I’m a big game player, you know, like Ronaldo, like Messi and many others. And this man is a big game player,” he shares.
“And yeah, you’re invited to dare to be great, and that’s the kind of company I like to find myself in for sure,” the British actor says.
Fightland’s logline reads, “Set in the underworld of British boxing. The show follows Maduka “Duke” Kilroy (played by Howard Charles), “a disgraced, formerly incarcerated boxing champion who returns to London to seek vengeance against the crime family he thinks betrayed him.”
