WASHINGTON: A sweeping wave of changes has begun within the administration of Donald Trump, raising concerns about further high-level dismissals, according to a report by a leading American newspaper.
The report indicates that the ongoing restructuring has triggered anxiety among senior U.S. officials, with many fearing for their positions amid growing uncertainty.
The situation intensified following the reported dismissal of Attorney General Pam Bondi, which has unsettled the cabinet and deepened concerns within top government ranks.
Sources suggest that several key figures could be next in line, including FBI Director Kash Patel, Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll, and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer.
The report further noted that the atmosphere of uncertainty has left many senior officials worried about their future roles, with expectations that more prominent figures may soon be removed.
It is worth mentioning that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was also dismissed last month, signaling the beginning of what appears to be a broader administrative shake-up.
Meanwhile, Randy George was removed from his position on Thursday by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, in what U.S. defense officials described as the latest high-level purge within the Pentagon.
According to three officials who spoke to Reuters, the dismissal comes as part of a broader effort to rapidly reshape the department under Hegseth, a former Fox News host. Analysts note that removing a top general during wartime is крайне rare and nearly unprecedented.
The Pentagon later confirmed that George, who still had more than a year remaining in his term, would be “retiring effective immediately” from his role as the 41st Chief of Staff of the Army. In an official statement, the department expressed gratitude for his decades of service and extended well wishes for his retirement.
Officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, further revealed that Hegseth has also dismissed David Hodne, head of the Army’s Transformation and Training Command, and William Green, who led the Army’s Chaplain Corps.
No official reason was provided for George’s sudden departure. The move comes at a critical time as the United States continues to bolster its military presence in the Middle East while conducting operations related to Iran.
