snow storm advisory lifted after icy conditions

The snow storm weather forecast for Toronto remains active after a freezing drizzle advisory was lifted late Saturday night.

Environment Canada issued the advisory for Toronto, York Region and parts of Durham Region, warning that periods of freezing drizzle could create icy surfaces. The advisory ended shortly after 11:45 p.m.

Police across the Greater Toronto Area responded to multiple collisions linked to a flash freeze and blowing snow. Officers urged drivers to avoid travel due to hazardous road conditions.

Environment Canada said slippery surfaces were possible during the advisory period, as temperatures dropped and moisture froze on contact.

Looking ahead, Toronto could see periods of snow Sunday with a daytime high of 1 C. Morning wind chills may make it feel closer to minus 6.

Cloudy skies are expected Monday, along with a 40 percent chance of flurries and a high near minus 3 C.

Drivers and pedestrians are advised to remain cautious as the snow storm weather forecast continues to bring winter conditions across the region.
