Security forces successfully neutralise two militant drones

The drones were neutralised using electronic countermeasures before they could cause any significant damage.

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said security forces have successfully intercepted and shot down two drones allegedly operated by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, commonly referred to by the government as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”

According to the ministry, the drones were neutralised using electronic countermeasures before they could cause any significant damage. Authorities said no military installations or critical infrastructure were targeted in the incident.

Officials added that only minor damage occurred due to debris falling after the drones were shot down.

The ministry further claimed that the militant group receives backing from the Taliban in Afghanistan, alleging that the Afghan Taliban regime provides shelter and support to several militant organisations.

In its statement, the ministry also accused accounts linked to the Ministry of Defence (Afghanistan) and other regime platforms of spreading misinformation and propaganda.

It cited recent claims circulated on those accounts alleging that Pakistan’s aircraft had been shot down and that pilots had been captured, describing the reports as baseless.

The Information Ministry said the posts were later deleted, adding that truth ultimately prevails over falsehood.
