Robinhood launches high-end platinum credit card for investors

New York: Robinhood Markets has announced a range of new financial tools aimed at expanding its services beyond stock trading, including the launch of a new Platinum credit card designed to convert everyday spending into investment rewards.

The announcement was made during the company’s “Take Flight” event , where Robinhood presented its broader strategy to build an all-in-one ecosystem for managing personal and family finances. Among the newly revealed products, the Robinhood Platinum Credit Card is expected to attract the most attention.

The new Platinum card is built to integrate closely with Robinhood’s investment platform. Instead of offering traditional travel points or airline miles, the card focuses on cash-back rewards that can be deposited directly into a Robinhood brokerage account.

This approach allows cardholders to turn routine spending into additional investments, effectively increasing their portfolios over time.

According to the company, the card will initially be invitation-only, with invitations likely going to members of Robinhood Gold, the platform’s premium subscription service.

Key Benefits and Annual Fee

The Robinhood Platinum Card carries a $695 annual fee and offers several rewards and perks, including: 10% cash back on hotels and rental cars, 5% cash back on dining, 5% back on flights booked through the Robinhood Banking app, 1% cash back on other purchases, complimentary Robinhood Gold membership,  $250 DoorDash credit and free DashPass membership,$250 annual credit for autonomous ride services, $200 annual credit for health wearables and complimentary memberships to Amazon One Medical, Function Health, and Oura.

Robinhood said the card is part of a larger push to transform the platform into a comprehensive financial services hub, introducing features such as shared family accounts and expanded wealth-management tools.

While the card is not designed specifically as a travel rewards product, its model of converting spending rewards into investments offers a different approach compared with traditional credit cards that emphasize airline miles or hotel points.

Who the Card Is Best For

Financial analysts say the Robinhood Platinum Card is unlikely to replace traditional travel rewards cards for frequent travelers. However, it may appeal strongly to investors who already use Robinhood as their primary brokerage platform.

By allowing rewards to flow directly into investment accounts, the card provides a simple way to automatically invest credit card rewards, potentially turning everyday purchases into long-term portfolio growth.
