LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought responses from the federal government and other respondents on a miscellaneous petition challenging the recent increase in petroleum prices.
Justice Khalid Ishaq heard the petition, which contended that inflation in Pakistan has already reached alarming levels, adversely affecting citizens and businesses, and that the latest hike in petrol and diesel prices has further burdened the public.
The petitioner argued that petroleum prices are not aligned with international market rates and alleged that the government lacks a transparent mechanism for determining fuel prices.
