
PM will meet the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. After the meeting, the he will return to Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday arrived in Saudi Arabia for a short emergency official visit.
At the Royal Terminal of Jeddah International Airport, he was received by the Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, while in Riyadh, Pakistani Ambassador Ahmed Farooq and other diplomatic officials welcomed the Prime Minister.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, his stay in Saudi Arabia will be brief, during which he will meet the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. After the meeting, the Prime Minister will return to Pakistan.
The official statement said that discussions between the Prime Minister and the Crown Prince will focus on the current regional situation, regional security, and bilateral relations, highlighting the importance of close consultation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister’s Office emphasized that this visit demonstrates Pakistan’s active diplomatic role in regional affairs, and the country will continue to pursue constructive engagement in international diplomacy.
Earlier, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hassan Andrabi had informed during a weekly press briefing that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif departed for Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the Crown Prince. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is accompanying him on the visit.
According to the spokesperson, the visit holds significant importance as it is part of bilateral consultations and efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Pakistan aims to continue its initiatives to reduce tensions, support ceasefires, and encourage dialogue and diplomacy.
