Pakistan rejects misleading claims on UAE financial deposits

Pakistan has rejected recent speculation regarding its financial dealings with the United Arab Emirates, stating that such claims are misleading and do not reflect the true nature of bilateral relations. Officials emphasized that ties between the two countries remain strong, long-standing, and multi-dimensional.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the return of financial deposits by the UAE is a routine financial matter carried out under mutual agreements and should not be interpreted as a sign of weakening relations.

Historically, Pakistan has played an important role in strengthening the UAE’s defense and military capabilities, including providing training, developing commando units, and supporting the establishment of training institutions.

Around 1.6 million Pakistani expatriates living in the UAE form one of the largest communities there and contribute significantly to its economy. At the same time, strong people-to-people connections continue to support bilateral ties.

Pakistani professionals, engineers, and workers have also contributed to the UAE’s infrastructure development, including ports, roads, housing projects, and other sectors, further strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations.

Cultural and religious harmony also plays a key role in reinforcing the relationship, as both countries share common Islamic values and traditions that promote mutual trust.

In 2024, Pakistan and the UAE signed investment agreements worth over $3 billion in sectors such as infrastructure, logistics, and trade. Both sides have also agreed to further expand cooperation through high-level engagements during 2025–26.

Experts believe that the strategic partnership, defense collaboration, and economic ties between the two countries are strong and sustainable, and cannot be affected by routine financial transactions. Officials reiterated that relations between Pakistan and the UAE are based on mutual trust, shared interests, and long-term cooperation, which also contribute to regional stability.
