ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson has rejected a statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism operations against terrorist networks in Afghanistan, calling it “baseless, misleading, and unjustified.”
The spokesperson said India’s statement reflects its “open hypocrisy and double standards,” given India’s historical role in sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan from Afghan soil and its disruptive activities in the region.
He added that it is noteworthy that such a statement comes from a country whose leadership has recently fueled Islamophobia for domestic political interests while remaining unaccountable for violent incidents against its Muslim population.
He also criticized India for unconditionally supporting an occupying power responsible for the continued killing of thousands of innocent Palestinians.
The spokesperson described it as “highly ironic” that a state with a history of violating international law and the UN Charter, undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbors, lectures others on compliance with these principles.
He further noted that India has illegally suppressed the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in violation of relevant UN resolutions, and continues to deny their rights.
The spokesperson urged India to cease supporting and sponsoring terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil, including those listed under UN Security Council sanctions, and called on India to stop making baseless claims regarding Pakistan’s successful counter-terrorism operations.
