Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies have confirmed that the highly anticipated animated sequel, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2,” will now premiere on 13 August 2027, advancing from its previously scheduled release on 17 September.
The sequel is directed by Jeff Rowe, with Kyler Spears and Yashar Kassai serving as co-directors. The creative ensemble from the first film returns, including producers and writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, alongside additional producers James Weaver, Josh Fagen, and Ramsay McBean, with Lukas Williams as executive producer.
The TMNT franchise has become a strategic priority for Paramount, particularly under the management of Skydance. The original 2023 release, “Mutant Mayhem,” grossed $181 million worldwide and revitalised the four-decade-old franchise.
Production on the sequel commenced even prior to the theatrical release of the first instalment, demonstrating the studio’s confidence in the rejuvenated animated interpretation of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo.
Beyond the animated sequel, Paramount is expanding the franchise through multiple initiatives. An untitled live-action/CG hybrid film is scheduled for 17 November 2028, marking the first live-action TMNT entry since 2016’s “Out of the Shadows.”
Additional ventures include a toy licensing partnership with Mattel commencing in 2027, a middle-grade illustrated book, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splinter’s Dojo,” an adult novel inspired by the graphic novel “The Last Ronin,” a digital preschool series entitled “Teeny Mutant Ninja Turtles” for YouTube, and themed pizzerias opening in Santa Monica, Monterrey, and São Paulo.
With the revised August release date, Mutant Mayhem 2 is poised to arrive during the late-summer cinematic season, providing audiences an earlier opportunity to engage with the action, humour, and adventure of their beloved pizza-loving heroes.
