Asalanka is expected to join squad before Lahore Qalandars’ upcoming match against Quetta Gladiators.
Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have replaced injured Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batter Parvez Hossain Emon with Sri Lankan all-rounder Charith Asalanka for the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League season 11.
Emon has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering an injury. Asalanka, a left-handed batter who can also bowl off-spin, brings strong international experience, having represented Sri Lanka in all formats. His inclusion is expected to strengthen Lahore’s middle order as the tournament enters its crucial stage.
Emon picked up a shoulder injury during a recent match against Multan Sultans in Lahore. The injury happened after an on-field collision with Asif Ali, which resulted in a ligament tear. He had played three matches for the team this season.
Asalanka is expected to join the squad before Lahore Qalandars’ upcoming match against Quetta Gladiators on April 17.
The team is currently placed sixth on the points table with two wins and three losses from five matches. They are coming off a heavy defeat against Peshawar Zalmi, where they were bowled out for just 97 runs in 17 overs while chasing a target of 174.
