The Jamaat-e-Islami sit-in at Liaquat Bagh Chowk in Rawalpindi entered its twelfth consecutive day, with additional supporters from various parts of the country joining the protest.
The demonstration is centred around demands against high electricity bills, excessive taxation, agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), rising petrol and gas prices, and general inflation.
On Tuesday, participants observed the morning Fajr prayer at the protest site, followed by breakfast arranged by the organisers.
The demonstrators appeared energised and continued chanting slogans against the government, expressing their determination to see their demands met.
The sit-in’s organisation includes maintaining cleanliness and ensuring smooth traffic flow around the venue, showcasing a well-managed protest environment.
Despite the protest’s longevity, there has been no progress in negotiations with the government.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s leadership is expected to announce their next course of action, with a significant press conference by the party’s leader, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, scheduled at the protest site.
The protest’s momentum continues to build as more supporters arrive in groups and convoys from across the country, highlighting the widespread discontent over economic issues and government policies.
As the situation develops, Jamaat-e-Islami remains steadfast in its resolve to push for change and hold the government accountable for its economic policies.
