TEHRAN: Iran has reportedly struck nearly seven United States (US) aircraft over the past couple of days, including helicopters and drones, marking a significant achievement according to Iranian officials.
Global news agencies reported that the Iranian military command has deployed a new air defence system designed to target US aircraft that previously evaded interception.
The statement added that, the system successfully engaged American planes, helicopters, and drones, though one US pilot remains missing.
Iranian authorities claimed that despite the air superiority of the US and Israel during the ongoing conflict, the country now maintains full control over its airspace.
According to Iranian state media, previous claims by former US President Donald Trump and US Secretary of Defence Pat Hagerty about complete control over Iranian airspace have now been contradicted by Iran’s recent statements.
Since the conflict began on February 28, seven US warplanes have reportedly been destroyed, which Tehran describes as a major victory for its defense forces.
