Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s much-anticipated nuptials have reportedly been thrown into uncertainty, as the actor grapples with delicate family dynamics.
Sources suggest that Jackman’s children are struggling to come to terms with his new relationship, prompting the couple to pause their wedding plans.
The pair, who co-starred in the Broadway revival of The Music Man from 2021 to 2023, first sparked speculation of a romantic liaison in late 2024. Their relationship became public in January 2025 when they were photographed holding hands during a dinner outing in Santa Monica.
Initial reports indicated that Jackman had proposed and that the couple were actively planning their wedding. However, a new report from National Enquirer claims that the actor is prioritising the emotional wellbeing of his children before moving forward with any ceremony.
“Although Hugh is enthusiastic about embarking on this next chapter with Sutton, he is acutely aware of his children’s feelings,” an anonymous source told the publication. “They remain deeply protective of their mother, Deborra-Lee Furness, and he wishes to proceed only if they are comfortable attending the occasion.”
Jackman’s children continue to maintain a strong bond with their mother following the couple’s separation and have reportedly struggled to fully embrace their father’s new relationship. The source added that Jackman is committed to celebrating the event in the presence of all his loved ones.
Earlier speculation suggested that the couple were considering an intimate ceremony in New York during the spring or summer, possibly followed by a European honeymoon. Theatre colleagues were expected to attend, and the pair had reportedly cleared time in Jackman’s schedule to organise the proceedings.
“They spent considerable time keeping their relationship private, but now that they are publicly together, developments were occurring at a swift pace,” the source added.
