Google introduces advanced AI feature in maps

Google has added powerful AI feature to its popular navigation service, Google Maps.

Google has added a powerful new artificial intelligence (AI) feature to its popular navigation service, Google Maps.

The Gemini AI–powered feature was first introduced in November 2025, designed to provide hands-free navigation assistance while driving. Initially, this service was only available to drivers, but Google has now expanded its functionality for a wider range of users.

The AI assistant is now available for pedestrians and cyclists, offering interactive, conversation-based navigation for all types of travel. This means users can receive real-time guidance and assistance without touching their devices, making their journeys safer and more convenient.

According to a Google blog post, the feature is being rolled out gradually worldwide, and users in regions where the Gemini AI model is available will be able to access it.

However, the feature will not be available on the web version of Maps and is limited to Android and iOS devices.

This update marks another step in Google’s effort to integrate AI-powered assistance into everyday tools, making navigation smarter and more user-friendly.
