Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan retires – SUCH TV


A stalwart of the Indian cricket team, Shikhar Dhawan has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket after a distinguished 14-year career.

Dhawan, announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on an Instagram post through his Instagram handle @shikhardofficial.

During his illustrious career, Dhawan amassed an impressive tally of 24 international centuries, including 17 in ODIs and 7 in Tests, across 269 matches.

He leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having joined an elite group of players who have scored over 5,000 runs in ODIs with a 40-plus average and 90-plus strike rate.

“Shikhar Dhawan has been a key figure in India’s ODI lineup, leading the team’s scoring charts in major tournaments and forming a successful opening partnership with Rohit Sharma,” said cricket analyst Ravi Shastri. “His retirement marks the end of an era, and he will be sorely missed by Indian cricket fans.”

 

In addition to his international exploits, Dhawan also had a successful domestic career, playing a pivotal role in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy victory and being the top run-scorer for India at the Under-19 World Cup.
