Former renowned Pakistani actress Mishi Khan has lashed out at the national cricket team following Pakistan’s defeat to India in the ICC T20 World Cup.
A video of Mishi Khan has gone viral on social media, where the actress said, “I don’t understand who selected the Pakistani team. First, our team lost to the USA, and then instead of strategising for the match against India, our cricketers went out shopping on the streets of New York like starving people.”
Mishi Khan further added “After the defeat from the USA, our team should have focused on correcting their mistakes by staying in their rooms, paying attention to their fitness, and preparing to win against India. However, our cricketers went on for outings; they should be ashamed.”
The actress said, “There was such a small target in the match against India, but our team kept playing slowly. Our batsmen played as if they hadn’t had enough sleep. Local neighborhood cricketers can play better than them. They couldn’t chase such a small target.”
Expressing anger at the selection committee, she said, “What kind of team have you taken? You have disgraced the whole country.”
Mishi Khan said, “Our cricketers earn millions from advertisements; they don’t perform, but they still get sponsored, whereas other sports players who make Pakistan proud at the international level are not acknowledged.”
It should be noted that in the highly anticipated T20 World Cup 2024 clash, India triumphed over Pakistan by six runs.
The Group A match, held at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, saw India setting a target of 120 runs.
However, the Pakistani team fell short in their chase of this target.
