Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will hold an in-depth briefing on the prevailing national security matters at 3 pm.

Terror incidents have surged in recent times, prompting Islamabad to urge Kabul to control militants. Last week, eight Pakistan Army personnel were martyred while thwarting a terrorist attack at Bannu Cantonment, killing all 10 attackers.

According to ISPR, the attack on July 15 by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group from Afghanistan involved an explosive-laden vehicle.

The next day, two security personnel and five civilians were martyred in an attack on a health centre in Dera Ismail Khan.

Pakistan has escalated its efforts against TTP hideouts in Afghanistan, citing the failure of the Afghan Taliban to curb terrorist activities.

The Pakistani military conducted strikes targeting these hideouts, which led to cross-border skirmishes and retaliatory actions by Afghan forces. The Afghan Taliban condemned these strikes as violations of sovereignty, while Pakistan insists that these actions are necessary to prevent further attacks on its soil.

In response to the rising violence, Pakistan launched “Azm-e-Istehkam,” a national anti-terror operation that has fragmented political parties.
