Prices of cooking oil and ghee in Pakistan are likely to increase by up to Rs150 per kilogram due to rising production costs. According to the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association, the expected increase may range between Rs100 and Rs150 per kg.
An adviser to the association said that the recent rise in petroleum prices has greatly increased the operating costs of ghee mills. Transportation and production expenses have gone up significantly, making it difficult for manufacturers to maintain current prices.
The association has requested the government to form a committee to find ways to control prices and provide relief to consumers. Industry officials have warned that if no timely action is taken, the increase could add further pressure on households already struggling with inflation.
