Army Chief meets Shia scholars, emphasizes their pivotal role in national unity

Pakistan’s internal security and regional stability remain a top priority, says Army Chief.

Islamabad: In a significant convergence of military leadership and religious scholarship, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir convened with prominent Shia Ulema to deliberate on matters of national security, societal harmony, and communal cohesion.

The Army Chief accentuated the indispensable role of scholars in cultivating tolerance, fortifying national solidarity, and nurturing a resilient social fabric.

Field Marshal Munir also illuminated the crucial responsibility of the Ulema in mitigating the spread of misinformation, curbing sectarian narratives, and neutralizing externally-backed destabilization attempts that threaten Pakistan’s internal stability.

Touching upon Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, the COAS asserted Pakistan’s zero-tolerance stance against the use of Afghan territory for orchestrating terrorist activities. “All terrorist networks targeting Pakistan will be dismantled through precise, intelligence-driven operations,” he declared, urging the Afghan Taliban to prevent their soil from being exploited against Pakistan’s sovereignty.

The Army Chief further emphasized that Pakistan remains steadfast in proactive diplomacy to reduce regional tensions. He called upon religious scholars to act as vanguards against extremism, warning that religious sentiments must never be manipulated to incite violence. “Events unfolding in other nations will not be allowed to justify unrest within Pakistan,” he added.

In response, the Shia scholars voiced a resolute commitment to peace and societal stability, categorically denouncing violence executed in the name of religion, and reaffirmed unwavering support for law enforcement agencies in maintaining order and security across the nation.
