Amazon upgrades Fire TV app with modern, smart design

Amazon has rolled out a major redesign of its Fire TV mobile app, transforming it from a simple backup remote into a powerful, user-friendly streaming hub.

The new app allows users to browse, discover, and play shows and movies directly from their phones, as well as manage watchlists on the go, creating a seamless mobile-to-TV experience.

According to Amazon, the update turns smartphones into a second screen, letting users quickly add a friend’s recommendation to their watchlist even when away from home. This integration is designed to provide a faster, more intuitive, and flexible way to navigate Fire TV content.

The app’s interface has been completely refreshed, featuring rounded corners, consistent typography, subtle gradients, and extra space for pinned apps. The layout mirrors the updated Fire TV user interface launched last month, which prioritizes content visibility and ease of access.

Navigation has been streamlined with icon-driven top tabs for Live TV, Sports, Movies, TV Shows, and News, while the browsing button is easily accessible on the Home tab. Users will also find personalized recommendations from their subscribed services under the “For You” section, along with curated categories for free content, top picks, and premium options.

The redesign comes as streaming platforms continue to expand rapidly, making it increasingly difficult for viewers to track content across multiple services. Amazon’s new Fire TV app aims to simplify discovery, centralize content, and make entertainment accessible with just a few taps.

The updated Fire TV app is now available in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the U.K.
