All parties represent elite except PPP: Bilawal | The Express Tribune

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, addressing a political rally in Dera Ismail Khan, criticised rival parties participating in the electoral campaign, stating that others only represent the elite besides PPP.

Bilawal expressed his joy at being present once again in the region. He thanked the enthusiastic crowd for their warm welcome. He highlighted the historical connection his family holds with the area, with both former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto — his grandfather and mother — having contested elections here.

“My relationship with the people of Dera Ismail Khan spans three generations. Bhutto Shaheed and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed contested elections here, and today, once again, I stand on this soil with my loyal sisters and brothers,” Bilawal Bhutto said.

Addressing concerns about the challenging weather conditions affecting the election process, saying that no amount of cold or snowfall will deter PPP. “It will be raining arrows on February 8,” Bilawal said, referring to his party’s electoral symbol.

Refuting claims that the threat of terrorism might hinder the electoral process, Bilawal affirmed his commitment to stand by his party members.

He praised the loyalty and bravery of PPP workers, stating, “Our country is once again in danger, and the people are going through difficult times. Terrorism is rearing its head again, and economic crises are evident.”

PPP chairman emphasised that the PPP represents the common people, while other parties represent the elite. He said, “We are told that there is a threat of terrorism, and the election campaign should not go on. I will not leave my workers alone. Jiyalas are loyal and courageous people.”

Highlighting the challenges faced by the country, Bilawal stated, “Our welfare agenda consists of ten points, and through this, we will provide relief to the people. If I become the prime minister, I will double the common man’s income.”

He criticised giving subsidies to the elite, stating, “Subsidies are given to the elite, and 300 billion rupees are spent on 17 ministries. But I will spend that money on the people.”

Bilawal stated that PTI founder Imran Khan is not in the race for the elections on February 8, emphasising that the contest is solely between PPP and PML-N.
