Taylor Swift makes surprise ‘SNL’ cameo during Dakota Johnson’s monologue
Johnson joked about her recent relationships with musicians before introducing Swift as her ‘literal therapist’
Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance during Dakota Johnson’s Saturday Night Live monologue, joining the host for a brief exchange about Johnson’s dating life and her role as an unofficial therapist.
Johnson, hosting SNL for the third time, joked about her recent relationships with musicians before introducing Swift as her “literal therapist”.
Swift then appeared and quickly corrected her, saying, “I’m not your therapist, actually.”
She continued the joke by describing Johnson turning up at her house with wine, lying on her sofa and sharing personal details.
Johnson responded, “Sleepover, yay!” before Swift added, “Then I give you Pedialyte and my security drives you home.”
The pair also joked about Johnson’s claim that dating musicians was a public service. Johnson said she was “saving you a lot of money on Zoloft”, before mentioning “America.
And also England. And parts of Ireland. And Cleveland.” The reference prompted Swift to respond, “Allegedly.”
Swift also marked Johnson’s birthday during the show, although the birthday itself was due at midnight. She later brought out a birthday cake during the goodnights.
The cameo followed the recent pairing of Swift and Johnson in the “Patient Zero” music video, which Swift directed and co-starred in.
Elsewhere in the episode, Johnson appeared in sketches including “Press Your Luck”, “Mean, Scary Girlfriend” and “Guns for Women”.
Turnstile served as musical guest, performing “Birds” and a medley of “I Care” and “Dull”, while the cast also featured political comedy and several Weekend Update segments.
