Pete Davidson defends Ariana Grande amid scrutiny, reflects on Kim Kardashian relationship
Davidson remains friendly with several of his exes while navigating continued public interest in his relationships
Pete Davidson has spoken out in defence of his former fiancée Ariana Grande, while also reflecting on his past relationship with Kim Kardashian and the ongoing public interest in his dating history.
Speaking to Variety in an interview published on September 30, the Saturday Night Live alum addressed the scrutiny Grande has faced, particularly concerning her physical appearance.
“I don’t like it at all. It’s not cool,” Davidson told Variety. “She’s a really strong person—I’ve witnessed it—and I don’t understand it.”
Davidson acknowledged that Grande, who has spent years in the public eye, knows how to deal with intense attention, but said the criticism still concerned him.
“She’ll be OK,” the 32-year-old said. “But I think it’s f**ked up.”
Despite their brief relationship and engagement in 2018, Davidson said there is no animosity between the former couple. “I think Ariana’s f**kin’ cool and immensely talented and an awesome girl,” he said. “We’re not texting or whatever, but we’re cool.”
Davidson also discussed the attention surrounding his dating history, which has included several high-profile relationships.
“It’s been over a decade,” he said, arguing that his professional work and relevance are often overlooked because of the focus on his personal life.
“What the f**k do I have to do?” Davidson added. “And look, I get it—I’ve dated a lot of people. But so has everyone else! Everyone is f**king everyone in this business! Everyone! And for some reason it’s zeroed in on me.”
The actor also reflected positively on Kardashian, saying, “We’re cool, and I have a lot of love for her, and I knew what I was getting into.”
Davidson remains friendly with several of his former partners while navigating continued public interest in his relationships.
