Whoopi Goldberg is stepping away from The View for a short stretch to work on a new film project.
She shared the news Wednesday alongside executive producer Brian Teta during an episode of the show’s Behind the Table podcast, revealing she’ll be filming Netflix’s Women Like Us, alongside Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams, and Vivica A. Fox.
According to Teta, Goldberg will be away from the show for the next two weeks but plans to return for Monday episodes throughout that stretch.
On the days she’s out, four former The View co-hosts will step in to fill her seat, including Lisa Ling, Star Jones, Sherri Shepherd, and Debbie Matenopoulos. The rotating group will take turns hosting Tuesdays through Thursdays, with Joy Behar continuing to moderate.
This isn’t the first time Goldberg has taken time away from the show for outside work. Last November, she filmed a role on the Italian soap opera “Un Posto Al Sole” in Naples before returning to her regular hosting duties in December.
Goldberg has hosted The View since 2007 and recently reflected on the show reaching its 30th season, admitting she’s occasionally thought about stepping away over the years and finds it surprising she’s stayed as long as she has.
She currently co-hosts alongside Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.
