The merchandise comes as artists and fans continue to rally around Macklemore following his removal from the tour
Macklemore’s recent comments supporting Palestinians have inspired a wave of fan-made merchandise online following his removal from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour.
The rapper was dropped from the remaining US dates of Sheeran’s tour after venues reportedly objected to his participation following his onstage statements supporting Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Macklemore had called for a “Free Palestine” during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Following the controversy, independent creators began selling Macklemore-inspired T-shirts and other merchandise featuring his image alongside Palestinian flags and messages supporting Palestine. Rolling Stone highlighted several fan-made designs available through platforms including Etsy, Amazon and Redbubble.
Some of the designs feature Macklemore alongside the words “Free Palestine”, while others use imagery connected to his comments during the concert. One fan-made shirt also incorporates remarks from the rapper addressing the distinction between criticism of Israel and antisemitism.
The merchandise comes as artists and fans continue to rally around Macklemore following his removal from the tour. All of Sheeran’s other opening acts subsequently withdrew from the remaining dates in solidarity with the rapper.
The controversy has also drawn responses from Sheeran and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Sheeran said the decision to remove Macklemore was made by the tour promoter, while Kraft confirmed that he had barred the rapper from performing at Gillette Stadium, citing Macklemore’s recent statements as well as what Kraft described as a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery.
Macklemore has continued to speak publicly about the issue, while the fan-made merchandise has become another visible response to the controversy surrounding his tour departure.
