Elizabeth Banks deliberately leave Pink out of her US Open photo dump with Amy Adams
Banks and Adams attended women’s singles final as Rybakina defeated Sabalenka in New York
Elizabeth Banks has sparked online attention after sharing photos from the US Open women’s singles final that feature Amy Adams, but leave out Pink, despite all three celebrities being pictured together at the event.
Banks and Adams were among the stars who attended the championship match at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on September 12, when Elena Rybakina defeated defending champion Aryna Sabalenka 6 4, 5 7, 6 2 to claim the US Open women’s singles title. The official US Open confirmed that Banks, Adams and Pink were all in the stands for the match.
Photographs from the day show Banks and Adams seated alongside Pink during the match. Associated Press images also identify Pink, Banks and Adams together in the stands, while UPI photographs show Banks and Adams watching the action from their seats.
However, Banks later shared her own selection of photos from the occasion, with Adams appearing in the pictures alongside her. Pink does not appear in the images shared by Banks, creating speculation online about why the singer was not included.
The timing has attracted particular attention because Pink has recently faced a wave of criticism following her comments about Macklemore and his public support for Palestinians during his performances while opening for Ed Sheeran. Pink initially reposted a message criticising Macklemore before later addressing the backlash in a lengthy statement of her own.
Pink explained that the message she originally reposted did not fully represent her own words and later discussed her views, her Jewish identity and the reaction she received after criticising Macklemore’s performances. Her response has itself generated further discussion online.
That controversy has led some social media users to wonder whether Banks intentionally excluded Pink from her US Open post. At present, however, there is no verified statement from Banks saying that the omission was deliberate or connected to the Macklemore dispute.
The available evidence establishes that the three women were together at the US Open final, while Banks chose to publish images featuring herself and Adams. It does not establish a reason for the selection.
The celebrity appearance came during an especially star filled US Open final, with Brad Pitt, Andrew Garfield, Paris Hilton, Billie Jean King and numerous other well known figures also attending. The official tournament coverage specifically included Banks and Adams among the celebrities present, while separately identifying Pink, Banks and Adams together in the stands.
