Some viewers also noted similarities in the way the young actor responds to questions, drawing comparisons with the star of Oppenheimer.
The attention comes as Aran Murphy continues to establish an acting career of his own.
He currently appears in two HBO projects, including Youth, created by and starring Sharon Horgan.
The series follows a 50-year-old divorcee navigating relationships, family responsibilities and changes in her life, with Aran playing her adult son.
Aran is also part of HBO’s legal drama War, which features Dominic West and Sienna Miller.
Beyond his television work, Aran is set to appear in Klara and the Sun, Taika Waititi’s adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s science-fiction novel.
The cast includes Amy Adams, Jenna Ortega, Natasha Lyonne and Steve Buscemi.
His father, Cillian Murphy, has built a career spanning 28 Days Later, Inception and Peaky Blinders, before winning the Academy Award for Best Actor for Oppenheimer.
