Ariana Grande sparks marriage rumours with Ricky Alvarez after changing ‘Thank U, Next’ lyrics

Ariana Grande has sparked speculation that she could be considering marriage to Ricky Alvarez after making another major change to the lyrics of her hit song Thank U, Next during the final show of her Eternal Sunshine Tour.

During her September 1, 2026, performance at London’s O2 Arena, Grande changed the line about Alvarez to suggest that she hopes he will be her last partner. The original lyrics reference her past relationship with the dancer, but Grande now appeared to sing that she is “trynna make him my last”, prompting a strong reaction from fans.

The lyric change immediately fuelled speculation about the future of Grande and Alvarez’s rekindled romance, with fans interpreting the new wording as a possible hint that the singer sees a long-term future with him. However, Grande has not announced an engagement or confirmed plans to marry Alvarez.

Grande, 33, and Alvarez recently rekindled their relationship after previously dating from 2015 to 2016. Their renewed romance became public in June 2026, when the pair were spotted spending time together in Austin, Texas, following one of Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour performances.

Since then, Grande has repeatedly altered the Alvarez reference in Thank U, Next during her concerts. At an earlier Austin performance in June, she changed the original lyric to acknowledge that the songs she wrote about Alvarez “still really slap”. At another show, she sang a variation suggesting that Alvarez still had her back.

The changes have become a recurring feature of Grande’s performances of the 2018 song, which originally referenced several of her former relationships. The latest version, however, is the most direct indication yet that Grande could view her renewed relationship with Alvarez as something lasting.
