MUZAFFARABAD: Iftikhar Gilani, candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was elected as the 17th prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday after securing 30 votes in the legislative assembly.
Gilani defeated Sardar Mukhtar Khan of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), who garnered 14 votes.
First elected to the AJK Legislative Assembly in 2011, Gilani has previously held the position of AJK education minister.
