Boston rock frontman Jeff Conolly dies

Tributes started pouring in after reports of Jeff ‘Monoman’ Conolly’s death surfaced online.

Jeff, who became a local Boston legend as the frontman for garage rock bands DMZ and The Lyres, died at 69 following his battle with bladder cancer.

Conolly previously created a GoFundMe to pay for his cancer treatments and revealed he was already $10,000 in debt due to the substantial cost of chemotherapy as of December 2025.

His GoFundMe page shows $78,033 was raised as of August 6, 2026.`

While requesting for donations on the crowdfunding platform, he wrote: “Trying to raise funds to off-set cost(s) and DEBT(s) due to my bladder cancer surgery and chemo therapy costs 2025-2026.

I need to raise funds to offset my tufts health care & medicare so that I can help pay-off my bladder cancer medical care DEBTS and so that I can successfully continue to pay for my current chemo infusion therapy(s) and all urology treatment(s) and 2026 bladder removal and prostate removal surgery(s) being scheduled for early 2026 CAT scans and MRI scans and chemo-infusion(s) costs are astronomical: I can’t afford them nor the related drug therapy(s). I already am in debt $10,000.00 so far as of December 2025.”
