Rihanna could be working on new music, with her partner A$AP Rocky saying the singer is currently “in the studio” as speculation continues over her long-awaited ninth album.
Speaking on The Jason Lee Show on Wednesday, the rapper offered a brief update on Rihanna’s music plans. Asked about a possible new album, he said, “she cooking.”
Rocky also denied that the couple’s three children were the reason Rihanna had not released a new album. When asked whether he was responsible for the delay, he said the singer was working on new material.
“Yeah I said it, sorry babe,” Rocky added, before admitting he would “get in trouble for this.”
The comments come after Rihanna previously offered an update on her next album. In February last year, the singer said she felt “really optimistic” about the project.
“I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!,” Rihanna told Harper’s Bazaar.
She also said, “I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more.”
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, has not released a full studio album since Anti in 2016. She has released several singles since then, including “Lift Me Up” for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022.
The 38-year-old singer has also expanded her business interests through Fenty Beauty and her lingerie company.
During the interview, A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, declined to comment on whether he and Rihanna had married.
