Prince Harry, Meghan Markle release their first direct statement about Archie and Lilibet

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle responded with their first direct statement.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have publicly responded for the first time to comments made about their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are 6 and 7 years old.

According to The Daily Beast, the couple’s spokesperson said there is a clear difference between criticizing public figures and targeting young children who have done nothing wrong.

The spokesperson said it is “extraordinary and irresponsible” to suggest that Archie and Lilibet will one day “make life a misery” for their royal cousins.

The representative also said Harry and Meghan are “genuinely disgusted” by the remarks.

The statement added that, regardless of people’s opinions about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, children should never be dragged into disputes between adults or portrayed as future rivals simply to create controversial headlines.

The response came after comments by comedian Mark Dolan, who claimed that Archie and Lilibet would eventually make life difficult for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Dolan also said Harry did not need extensive security during his recent visit to the U.K. and suggested the issue was more about appearances than safety.

He also claimed that Harry and Meghan would create difficulties for King William and Queen Catherine if they spent part of the year in the U.K. and that the rivalry would continue into the next generation through their children.
