KP announces new number plates for all vehicles

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to introduce new vehicle license plates with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for all vehicles across the province.

According to the Excise Department, the new license plates will include RFID stickers to make vehicle identification and tracking easier. The system will apply to both government-owned and privately owned vehicles.

Officials said the provincial government currently issues standard vehicle license plates for Rs1,200. Under the new system, the RFID-enabled license plates will cost Rs4,000.

The Excise Department said the RFID stickers will help authorities identify and track vehicles more efficiently, improving monitoring and law enforcement.

The provincial government has not yet announced a timeline for introducing the new RFID license plate system.
